The Product Library is a Shipi addon where you save the shipping data of each product: weight, length × width × height, HS code, customs description and country of origin. When an order or invoice reaches Shipi without that data, Shipi fills it in from the library before the label is created, so you stop shipping everything as 1 kg with no HS code.

Good to know: the library only fills missing data. If your store sends a weight, Shipi uses it. If your store’s weights are wrong, turn on Product Library values replace values sent by my store in the store shipping defaults.

What is the Product Library?
Many orders reach Shipi without shipping data: wholesale products that were never given a weight, Wix invoices (which have no weight field at all), or stores that never filled in HS codes. Until now Shipi used a placeholder weight of 1 for those items and sent no HS code.
The Product Library is a list of your products with the data a carrier needs. Each time an order arrives, Shipi looks up every item in the library and fills in the fields that are empty. The rest of your workflow — automatic labels, the shipment screen, emails — stays the same.
Store shipping defaults (all plans)
Before the library, set the fallbacks for your store. They apply to every item that has no value from your store or your library, on every plan.
- Open Apps and click Open (or Configure) on Product Library.
- In Store shipping defaults, fill in what you need. Leave a field empty to keep today’s behaviour.
- Click Save defaults.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Default item weight + unit | Weight used for an item when nothing else has one. Without it, Shipi keeps using 1. |
| Size unit | cm or in. Use the same units as your carrier account. |
| Default HS code | Sent to customs for items without their own HS code. Digits only; dots are removed. |
| Default country of origin | Two-letter code, for example IN, US, DE. Without it, carriers use your ship-from country. |
| Default customs description | Shown on customs invoices for items without their own description. |
| Product Library values replace values sent by my store | Plus and above. Library values win over store values, for stores whose weights are wrong. |
Install the Product Library addon
- Go to Apps in the dashboard.
- On Product Library, click Install, then Confirm.
- You land on the Product Library page with an empty list.
On the Lite and Starter plans the card shows Plus plan and above. You can still open the page to set store shipping defaults; your current shipments keep working exactly as before.
Add products to the library
- Click Add product.
- Enter the Product name exactly as it appears on your orders or invoices. Capital letters, punctuation and extra spaces don’t matter:
Blue Mug – Box of 6!matchesblue mug box of 6. - Add the SKU and Store product ID if you have them. They match before the name does.
- Under Other names, add other names the product appears under, one per line (for example the short name you type on invoices).
- Fill in Weight and Length / Width / Height per unit, with their units.
- Fill in the Customs fields if you ship internationally.
- Click Save product.
The Handling fields (dangerous goods, signature, insurance, own box, preferred service) are saved for upcoming features and are not sent to carriers yet.
Import products
Click Import on the Product Library page:
| Option | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Import from shipments | Every product name from your last 500 shipments that isn’t in the library yet, with any weight, size and HS code those orders already had. Placeholder weights are skipped. |
| Import from Wix | Wix stores only. Your Wix Stores products with their product ID, SKU (Catalog V1) and weight. |
| From a CSV file | Up to 5,000 rows and 2 MB. Click Download template for the columns. |
The CSV needs a display_name (or sku) column. Rows that match an existing product by store product ID, SKU or name update it; empty cells leave existing values unchanged. Separate several other names with |. Use Export CSV to download your library, edit it in a spreadsheet and import it again.

How orders are matched
For every item on an incoming order, Shipi picks the first library product that matches, in this order:
- Store product ID (for example the Wix product ID).
- SKU (capital letters ignored).
- Product name, after removing capitals, punctuation and extra spaces.
- Other names (aliases).
Then, field by field:
| Order | Source | Used when |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Your store | The order has a value for this field (a weight above 0, an HS code…). |
| 2 | Product Library | The item matched a library product that has this field. |
| 3 | Store shipping defaults | Neither of the above has a value. |
| 4 | Unchanged | Nothing has a value: the item keeps what the store sent (for example the placeholder weight 1). |
Weights and sizes saved in another unit are converted to your store’s units (for example 500 g becomes 0.5 kg).
On the shipment screen
When you open or create a shipment, the Product Information section shows where data came from:
| Badge on the product | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Product Library | Some fields came from the library. Hover to see which. |
| Store default | Some fields came from your store shipping defaults. |
| Weight unknown | Your store didn’t send a weight and nothing else had one. Check it before you ship. |
While adding or editing a product you can:
- Select from Product Library (Plus and above): search your saved products and fill the form in one click. When you edit an order item, its name stays the same and only the data is filled in.
- Open Customs details to set the HS code, country of origin and customs description for this shipment (all plans).
- Tick Save to Product Library (Plus and above) to keep the values for next time. If you picked a library product for an item with a different name, that name is saved as another name of the product, so the next order matches automatically.
- Use Set box size & weight on a box (all plans) to enter the real box dimensions and the total weight including packaging. Leave it empty to keep calculating from the products.
What carriers receive
Weights and sizes reach every carrier through the packages Shipi builds. Customs data is sent where the carrier’s API supports it:
| Carrier | HS code | Country of origin | Customs description |
|---|---|---|---|
| DHL Express | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| FedEx | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| UPS | Yes (6–15 digits) | Yes | Yes |
| PostNord | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| FedEx Freight (LTL) | Yes | Yes | — |
| USPS | Yes | Yes | — |
| Israel Post | Yes | — | — |
| DHL Parcel UK | Yes | — | — |
HS codes are sent when they have at least 6 digits, and countries of origin when they are 2-letter codes (IN, US, DE). Items without a valid country of origin use your ship-from country, as before. Customs values still use the order price.
Using the Product Library with Wix invoices
Wix invoices have no weight field, so Shipi used 1 for every invoice line. With the Product Library:
- Add your wholesale products, using the names you put on invoices (or add those names under Other names).
- Create or sync invoices as usual. Each line gets its weight, size and customs data from the library.
- If an invoice line didn’t match, open the shipment, edit the item, pick the right product with Select from Product Library and tick Save to Product Library. The next invoice with that name matches by itself.
If you set up invoice sync before October 2026, copy the updated code from Settings → Enable Wix Invoice → View Setup Guide into your site’s events.js and publish your site. The new code tells Shipi when a weight is a real catalog weight and when it is only a placeholder.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Item still shows Weight unknown | No library product matched and no default weight is set. | Check the product name or add it under Other names, or set a default item weight. |
| Library weight isn’t used | Your store sends its own weight, which wins by default. | Fix the weight in your store, or turn on Product Library values replace values sent by my store. |
| Changes don’t show on an existing shipment | Data is filled in when the order arrives. | Edit the item on the shipment screen and use Select from Product Library. |
A product with this name or SKU is already in your library | You added a product that already exists. | Search for it and click Edit. |
| Wrong variant weight | Variants share a name and the order has no SKU. | Add the SKU to each variant in the library. |
Frequently asked questions
The Product Library addon is included in the Plus, Premium and Unlimited plans and in free trials. Store shipping defaults (default weight, HS code, country of origin and customs description) work on every plan.
No. It only fills fields that are empty on the order. If you want library values to win over your store’s values, turn on the option Product Library values replace values sent by my store.
By store product ID first, then SKU, then the product name with capitals, punctuation and extra spaces ignored, then the other names you saved for the product.
Yes. Import product names from your last 500 shipments, import your Wix Stores catalog, or upload a CSV file of up to 5,000 rows.
Yes. Wix invoices have no weights, so Shipi fills each invoice line from the library by product name or by another name you saved for the product.
DHL Express, FedEx, UPS, PostNord, FedEx Freight (LTL) and USPS receive both. Israel Post and DHL Parcel UK receive the HS code.
Your products stay saved and you can still export them as CSV, but Shipi stops using them on new orders. Store shipping defaults keep working on every plan.
